The traditional settlement of Stemnitsa, was the favorite shelter of the leader of the Greek War of Independence, Theodoros Kolokotronis. Since the post-Byzantine period, Stemnitsa is also a famous silver, gold and metallurgic center. Today, the Stemnitsa Silver-Gold-Smithery School, located in a beautiful building, proudly continues this rich tradition.
